Immunization Summit to be held in Lexington Oct. 9

The Immunize Kentucky Coalition and the Kentucky Rural Health Association are hosting an Immunization Summit on Oct. 9 in Lexington.

The keynote speaker will be Ethan Lindenberger, a vaccine advocate who decided to get vaccinated when he turned 18 despite his parents’ anti-vaccine beliefs.

The conference will touch on several topics, including vaccinations for early childhood and school-aged children, data collection, several sessions on HPV, the role of mobile clinics, resources to support vaccine conversations and more.

The summit is timely because many Kentucky children are still catching up with routine vaccinations that were missed during the pandemic. It also comes as the state’s pertussis, or whooping cough, rates are higher than they’ve been since 2016-17. Pertussis is a vaccine preventable disease.

The Immunization Summit is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 9 at the Embassy Suites, 1801 Newtown Pike. Click here to register.
