Ky. Association of Health Plans offers Kroger gift cards at state fair to people who get flu shot at its on-site clinic

The Kentucky Association of Health Plans is hosting its fifth annual vaccination pop-up clinic at the Kentucky State Fair and, while supplies last, will give away a Kroger gift card to those who receive a flu shot.

KAHP is the trade association representing commercial health insurers and Medicaid managed-care organizations in the commonwealth.

From Aug. 14 to 24, KAHP will offer attendees a $20 Kroger gift card (while supplies last) when State Fair attendees visit the Healthy Horizons Pavilion in South Wing B and receive a flu shot. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except for Sundays.

Medicaid members may also be eligible to receive an additional incentive provided by their health plan, on top of the KAHP gift card giveaway.

“No one wants to be sidelined by the flu,” Tom Stephens, KAHP president and CEO, said in a news release. “Getting vaccinated now reduces the risk of severe illness and hospitalization later — which means better health outcomes and lower costs for everyone, including patients. And at the Fair, you can do it quickly and walk away with a $20 Kroger gift card.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone 6 months and older get an annual flu vaccine. It’s best to get vaccinated at the start of the season, which is in the fall and winter.
